After four decades of chaplaincy I can truly state, "Chaplaincy is not for the faint of heart. The following are simply my insights over the four decades that may or may not help you. So, Do You Want to be a Chaplain?

In summary, “The Hope of the Gospel” is a beacon of light for inmates seeking transformation. It offers freedom from guilt, a fresh start, and the promise of eternal life. Through faith in Jesus Christ, broken lives can be restored, and second chances become a reality. Remember, reducing recidivism requires an integrated approach that considers individual needs, community support, and evidence-based interventions Do not make the mistake of being narrow minded about helping an offender confining yourself to just one religion, and just one way of change. Chaplains have created divisions within the many agencies in prisons who are trying to reach the same goal—to change the offender’s lives.
